Occlusal Guards
There are a variety of occlusal guards with different purposes. Some are intended to protect your teeth from clenching or grinding at night, or while playing sports or doing other strenuous activity where you might clench, grind, or have a high risk of head impacts. These guards can prevent damage to your teeth that can save you thousands and help preserve your smile in its natural and healthy form. Over-the-counter versions of these devices exist and can be had at a fraction of the cost of custom appliances. However, the fit and longevity will be reduced. We always encourage patients to choose the appliance they think will suit their needs and budget best!
Custom Retainers
Did you lose your retainers or need replacement retainers from past orthodontic treatment? If you’re not wearing your retainers on a regular basis, your teeth could relapse to their previous positions and fall out of their best alignment. This can result in changes to your smile that you don’t like, could cause problems with your oral hygiene, and can lead to cavities or unnecessary tooth wear. If you’ve lost contact with your orthodontist office that made your original retainers, we can make new ones for you!
Custom Mouthguards
If you or your child participates in sports, it’s important to have a custom mouthguard to protect the teeth and jaw from injury. Mouthguards are especially important for patients with orthodontic braces. We take an impression of your teeth, then create a device fitted to your mouth for a more comfortable fit, easier breathing, and better protection. Preventing injury is much more budget-friendly than repairing the damage caused by facial trauma.
Custom Night Guards
We make custom-fitted night guards to alleviate and control complications related to nighttime clenching or grinding (bruxism). Night clenching and grinding can result in a variety of pathologic complications, including tooth wear and damage to natural tooth structure, failure of existing restorations, headaches, and pain in the teeth, chewing muscles, jaw joints, neck, and shoulders. Intervention with these custom appliances can often resolve these problems and prevent their progression.
